Flag football
This year, alongside with Justice Studies representative Razia Yousufy, we organized Guelph-Humber’s 2nd Annual Flag Football Tournament. The tournament was an overall success as we had a much higher than anticipated turnout from students from various programs within Guelph-Humber and Humber College. Beginning with this year’s tournament, we purchased a trophy to present to the tournament champions which is located in the GHSA office.
Here are some of the teams that participated in this year’s tournament.
Snowboard Trip
In the upcoming semester, we will be planning a ski and snowboard trip to Blue Mountain. It will be a full day trip open to all Kinesiology students.
Kin Games
Though not a GHSA initiative, we are also planning this year`s trip to Kin Games. Kin Games is an annual, weekend long tournament of athletic and academic challenges. Kinesiology students representing their universities from all over Canada congregate at one hosting university to partake in this event. This year, the tournament will be hosted by University of Western Ontario.
ACADEMIC INITIATIVES
As part of our academic initiatives, we have represented the Kinesiology study body by attending curriculum meetings and speaking on their behalf. Additionally, we have consistently communicated with the program head as well as the program advisor to inform them of the student’s issues and concerns. A major success of ours was being allotted seats in the Intro to Psychology course. This was significant as many post-grad schools require students to take a psychology course as an elective, yet the Kinesiology curriculum does not offer this course.
