GHSA Statement on Articles

For the past few weeks the Guelph-Humber Student Association has been aware of the articles written in both the Guelph-Humber Radix and the Humber Et Cetera. At this time, we are looking into retrieving the recording of the interview conducted by reporter Cameron Switzer of the GH Radix, who has been supportive and cooperative in sharing this interview for all parties to listen to. As both students and members of an organization ourselves, we understand the learning curve with student based news papers, as well as for a business to be portrayed correctly in the press. After talking to both parties, it is to our understanding that the recording and the manner of which the questions were asked and answered, does weigh heavily on the tone of the articles written. Therefore due to journalistic integrity, we cannot move forward on making conclusions without hearing the recording first.

Moving forward, we will be listening to the recording alongside the Executive Director of HSF, Ercole Perrone, our UoGH advisors Liana Acri and Leah Murdock, and all other interested parties, before making further public statements.

As the Guelph-Humber Student Association, we want to make clear that our interest, passion and focus is, and will continue to be the Guelph-Humber community. We strive to focus on Guelph-Humber student issues, and advocate for academic needs. We are a fully transparent organization who will continue in the roles elected by the student population of Guelph-Humber. We apologize for the delay in statement, but once again want to reiterate that our main focus right now is retrieving the interview before moving forward. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email us anytime at info@ghsaweb.com. Best of luck on final exams, and we look forward to seeing returning students in September.
